Habit Formation Engine
A founder's behavioural conviction, built into a shipped consumer product.
Founded in 2026

SOSE, Sum Of Small Efforts, is a habit tracking app built for a founder client and shipped to the Google Play Store as a live freemium product. The founder came to Ten8.City with a clear behavioural conviction: most habit apps fail because they punish life. A missed gym day breaks the streak, the streak was the point, and the user quits within weeks. The job was to translate that conviction into a real product designed, built, billing-enabled, store-listed, in users' hands. Ten8.City delivered the full venture and handed over the keys.
Problem
The founder came in with a thesis the conventional habit-app market had never properly answered. Generic trackers reward unbroken streaks and punish the moments when life intervenes a sick day, a planned rest, a holiday. Users hit the first interruption, watch the streak collapse, and abandon the app. The founder's working model said the opposite: consistency over time matters more than perfection within a window, and rest is part of the work, not a failure of it.
Translating that thesis into a shipped app meant solving the full consumer build product design, behavioural model, data architecture, monetisation, store listing, native packaging, and Play Store review. The founder needed a partner who could take the idea to market in one engagement, not a sequence of vendors handing artefacts between them.
Solution
Ten8.City designed and built SOSE end-to-end. The core design move was a three-state habit log: completed, intentionally skipped, or not done. An intentional skip is a deliberate user action, tap the rest icon, and it preserves the streak and success rate, because choosing to rest is part of the habit, not a break in it. That single design decision is what makes SOSE different from every Don't-Break-The-Chain clone on the store, and it came directly out of the founder's thesis.
Around that core, the app provides flexible scheduling (daily, N-times-per-week, or specific weekdays), Blocks for time-boxed challenges with their own stats window, an editable 14-day history, an archive for paused habits, and a Premium stats page with completion rates, streaks, and per-habit performance. Auth, storage, and user management run on Supabase; the app ships as a single React codebase that serves both a PWA and a native Android build via Capacitor. Freemium billing with a seven-day Premium trial. Onboarding, help system, and store listing copy all built and shipped as part of the engagement.
SOSE is live on the Google Play Store as a freemium product: three habits free, unlimited at $1/month. The founder owns the product, the codebase, the user base, and the revenue. Ten8.City delivered the venture, then handed over the keys.
